Major Champion Architects

Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino and Greg Norman have more than a couple of things in common besides being great golfers and major championship winners. They have all been designers of golf courses in the Naples area. The all-time major championship winner with 18 ( 6 Masters Championships, 5 PGA titles, 4 U.S. Opens, 3 British Opens ) Jack Nicklaus was the designer of Bear’s Paw, a Signature Course, and also his first course on the west coast of Florida. Mr. Nicklaus, along with his son Jack Nicklaus II, were the architects of one of the 18 hole courses at Twin Eagles. The other course at Twin Eagles was designed by a Nicklaus contemporary, Gary Player. Player has 9 major championships to his credit, with 3 Masters titles, a U.S. Open, 3 British Opens, and 2 PGA wins. Another course on his design resume is The Classics at Lely Resort, one of three 18 layouts...http://chrisanddick.wordpress.com/
